Report Content

Version 1.0 · Effective 24 September 2026

Use this page to tell us about content on Mountain Diary that you believe is illegal or breaks our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines. Anyone can report content, with or without an account.

If someone is in danger right now, call the emergency services first — 112 in Europe, 911 in the USA and Canada.

What you can report

  • Illegal content — for example content that infringes copyright, defames someone, sexualises minors, incites violence or hatred, or threatens someone.
  • Photos of you or information about you published without your consent.
  • Harassment, spam, advertising or impersonation.
  • Content that encourages access to closed or protected areas, and other breaches of the Community Guidelines.

How to report

Please fill in the form below. We need:

  • the exact address (URL) of the page, and for a comment, which comment you mean;
  • the reason for your report;
  • an explanation of why you think the content is illegal or breaks our rules — if you believe it is illegal, tell us which law it breaks and why, as precisely as you can;
  • your name and email address, so that we can confirm receipt and tell you our decision — you can report child sexual abuse material without giving them;
  • your confirmation that you believe in good faith that the information in your report is accurate and complete.

What happens next

  1. We confirm by email that we have received your report.
  2. A person reviews it. Reports about a threat to someone’s life or safety, or about child sexual abuse material, are dealt with first. We aim to decide within 7 days; complex cases can take longer.
  3. While we review a report, we may hide the content temporarily.
  4. We tell you our decision and how you can challenge it (Terms of Use, section 7.7).
  5. If we restrict the content, we send its author a statement of reasons. We do not tell the author who reported the content unless this is strictly necessary — for example in a copyright claim — or the law requires it.

Members can also use the report link next to the content. If five different members report the same content through the report link within seven days, it is hidden automatically until we have reviewed it.

Copyright notices

If you own the rights to a work or are authorised to act for the owner, please include in your report:

  • the work you believe is infringed, for example a photo or a text, with a link if it is published elsewhere;
  • the exact address of the content on Mountain Diary that infringes it;
  • your name, postal address, phone number and email address;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights owner, its agent or the law;
  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, for notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, a statement under penalty of perjury that you are the rights owner or authorised to act for them;
  • for DMCA notices, your physical or electronic signature — typing your full name is enough.

DMCA notices can also be sent by email to info@mountaindiary.com.

If your content was removed after a copyright notice and you believe this was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to info@mountaindiary.com. Include the address of the removed content, your explanation, your name, postal address and phone number and, for a counter-notice under the DMCA, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that the content was removed by mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal court for your address (or, if you live outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), your agreement to accept service of process from the person who sent the notice, and your signature.

Please report fairly

Report only content that you honestly believe is illegal or against our rules. If someone frequently sends reports that are manifestly unfounded, we may stop processing their reports for a while, after a prior warning.

Your data

We use the information in your report only to deal with it, as described in section 3.12 of the Privacy Policy.

Other ways to reach us
